Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) Grant
Green Springs High School is proud to announce that we have been awarded the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) Grant, a federally funded initiative under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). This grant allows us to expand educational opportunities for our students beyond regular school hours, providing essential academic support and enrichment programs designed to help them thrive.
About the 21st CCLC Program
The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) initiative is a vital part of Title IV, Part B of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). This program is dedicated to:
Enhancing Academic Achievement: Offering tutoring, credit recovery, and enrichment opportunities to help students—especially those from low-performing schools—meet and exceed state academic standards.
Providing Holistic Learning Experiences: Engaging students in a broad range of activities such as youth development, service learning, nutrition and health education, arts, music, physical fitness, technology education, financial literacy, environmental literacy, and career-focused programs.
Encouraging Family Involvement: Creating opportunities for families to actively participate in their children's education through literacy programs, educational workshops, and financial planning sessions.
How This Grant Benefits Our Students:
At Green Springs High School, our mission is to ensure that every student has the tools and support necessary to succeed both academically and personally. Thanks to the 21st CCLC Grant, we are offering free after-school programs and events that align with our curriculum while keeping students engaged in fun, meaningful ways. All students are welcome to participate in these programs.
Our current programs include:
✅ Tutoring & Credit Recovery: Providing additional academic support and opportunities for students to make up missed credits after school hours.
✅ Yoga & Wellness: Promoting mental and physical well-being through guided yoga sessions.
✅ Basketball Program: Encouraging teamwork, discipline, and physical activity through structured basketball training.
✅ FAFSA Nights: Assisting students and families with the college financial aid process to support their post-secondary education.
✅ Financial Literacy Workshops: Partnering with TRUIST Bank to educate students and parents on money management, budgeting, and financial planning.
✅ Career Exploration & Guest Speaker Series: Inviting professionals from various industries to share insights and inspire students about different career paths.
Looking Ahead:
With the support of this grant, Green Springs High School is committed to expanding our programs and continuing to provide engaging, enriching, and educational experiences for all students. We look forward to introducing more internships, mentorship programs, STEM initiatives, and hands-on career exploration opportunities to prepare our students for a bright future.
